On September 17, the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo officially commenced in Nanning, Guangxi. This year’s edition brings together more than 3,200 enterprises from 60 countries, with a total exhibition area reaching 160,000 square meters.

As the first China-ASEAN Expo held after the conclusion of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 negotiations, this year’s event placed a major spotlight on artificial intelligence (AI). The opening ceremony featured AI-powered simultaneous interpretation in seven languages and digital hosts, while post-event materials such as meeting minutes, press releases, key buzzwords, and highlight photos were generated instantly with a single click—showcasing the remarkable capabilities of Chinese AI. For the first time, a dedicated 10,000-square-meter AI exhibition zone was set up in Hall B1 of the main venue, bringing together nearly 200 leading AI companies and innovative teams, including iFLYTEK and Huawei, with 1,200 cutting-edge AI products from China and abroad making their debut. Leading Chinese AI company iFLYTEK launched its Spark ASEAN Multilingual Foundation Model, alongside products such as the iFLYTEK Translate SaaS Platform, iFLYREC Multilingual Conference System (ASEAN Edition), and iFLYTEK AI Chinese Learning Platform (ASEAN Edition). As each guest delivered their speech, the giant LED screen in the venue displayed live subtitles translated simultaneously into seven languages: Chinese, English, Vietnamese, Thai, Burmese, Malay, and Indonesian. The audience responded with rounds of applause, and many guests raised their phones to capture the moment. Behind this impressive performance was the robust support of Spark Trans. Developed by iFLYTEK for international cross-lingual communication, this solution integrates core functions such as real-time speech recognition and translation, AI-powered subtitle projection, and multilingual speech synthesis and broadcasting. For the first time, the China-ASEAN Expo featured digital human technology at its opening ceremony. Two digital hosts, developed by iFLYTEK, quickly became a highlight of the event. iFlyVoice Studio Team designed four distinctive outfits for them, each with cultural significance. The male digital host, named CC, representing China, appeared in two styles: a crisp white suit and a golden Tang-style outfit adorned with cloud patterns—blending contemporary and traditional elements. The female digital host, AA, symbolizing ASEAN, wore two meticulously crafted costumes: one inspired by the classic Peranakan color palette of Malaysia, and the other featuring intricate patterns characteristic of Myanmar. These detailed attire designs highlighted ASEAN’s cultural diversity, seamlessly merging technology with tradition at the Expo.

At the end of the agenda, the digital hosts served as “information guides,” helping attendees quickly grasp the key points of the conference. With a single click, meeting minutes and press materials were automatically generated, while customized AI tools accurately captured core keywords and highlight photos. All content was seamlessly compiled and presented in two clear and accessible formats: video and PowerPoint.

The “AI Core Technologies Zone” highlighted the computing power, data infrastructure, and foundation models behind large-scale AI systems, while the “AI+ Application Scenarios Zone” showcased real-world implementations in fields such as meteorology, agriculture, and transportation. The interactive experience area featured an array of innovative AI products, offering immersive demonstrations including quadruped robots, AI-powered coffee makers, and AR glasses.

At the Expo, 200 iFLYTEK Translation Machines were provided to attendees, enabling smoother and more efficient communication between Chinese companies and their ASEAN counterparts. Volunteers throughout the venue were also equipped with a discreet yet powerful tool—a QR code card for the iFLYTEK Translator app tucked into their supply kits. By scanning the code to download the app, volunteers could instantly overcome language barriers—whether explaining the “preparation process of the savory and spicy broth of Guangxi rice noodles” to Indonesian guests or guiding Malaysian and other ASEAN exhibitors to their designated booths. With simple text input or voice commands, the app delivered fast and accurate multilingual translations, ensuring seamless reception and guidance services for all. Additionally, two translation service stations were set up within the venue to offer on-the-spot language support to participants.
